|Ernest received his BA from Westmar College and his MD from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. After completing his internship at St Luke Hospital, Spokane, WA, Dr. Eyres went into private practice in the state of Washington. He worked in state and local public health and attended the school of public health at the University of California. Dr. Eyres received his basic training in psychiatry at Worcester State Hospital in MA and studied neurology a year at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, before opening his own office.
Dr. Eyres was an avid amateur photographer and boating enthusiast. He was a member of the United States Power squadron holding an advanced pilot's certificate and was also a member of the Detroit yachting club. Dr. Eyres authored several books, including "A Happier Life" written with his first cousin, Charles Pearson.
